Kristen Swilley

Editor-in-Chief

She goes by Swilley, but you can also call her boss. The third-year broadcast journalism student and current Editor-in-Chief joined the Journey team in the fall of 2010. With a lot of encouragement and some playful torment from her coworkers, the “youngin” of the staff quickly gained the confidence to tackle serious subjects. During her time as Staff Editor for the publication, she covered everything from the inner struggles of black atheists to the plight of America’s newest generation of homeless veterans, garnering awards for Best Multimedia Journalist (3rd place) and Best Non-Fiction Writing (3rd place) in the Society of Professional Journalists “Mark of Excellence” awards. Her ultimate career goal is to work as a foreign correspondent, but she’s willing to cover any topic in any form. To keep up with Swilley between issues, follow her on Twitter @OhSoSwilleyious.
