Journey Presents Strike Out With A Sweet Tooth

FLORIDA A&M UNIVERSITY (March 7, 2022) – Calling all Rattlers to join Journey Magazine to indulge in free samplings of items from Strike Nutrition and TC Bakery, which are two local Black-owned food businesses, at our first “Strike Out With A Sweet Tooth” event. The pop-up tasting will be held Monday, March 7 from 1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. in the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication Gallery. 

Strike Nutrition and TC Bakery are both eager to promote menu items to all FAMU students to increase their popularity amongst college students. FAMU Softball coach, Camise Patterson or Coach P, is the founder of Strike Nutrition which offers wellness products such as meal replacement shakes, energy teas and protein donuts. Coach P is especially targeting FAMU students to not only promote wellness but in hopes of her business becoming a safe space for students to study and hangout. Students can purchase items at 1223 N. Monroe St.  

TC Bakery is a dessert shop owned by Jennifer Young who sells cupcakes, cakes, pies, cheesecakes and more. Since 2019, Young’s shop has been located less than a mile from FAMU campus at 614 Eugenia St. Due to being in close proximity to campus, Young welcomes FAMU students to stop by and enjoy TC Bakery’s menu items.

“I’m elated to feature businesses that primarily focus on FAMU, especially in a city that often only centers FSU culture,” Mia Diamond Uzzell, the editor-in-chief of Journey Magazine says. “This event is bound to be the event of the semester.”
