By: Michael Trim Jr.
With November passing, this time of year brings seasonal releases since the holidays are approaching. Some blockbusters have already been released, including the highly anticipated Marvel Studios film, The Marvels. Marvel’s first movie they released this year did not do well in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and got mixed reviews on the latest release in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.
Marvel has been in a rough transition phase as their original plans for the cinematic universe went downhill after the passing of Chadwick Boseman. So, Marvel knows these subsequent few releases, including The Marvels, must be hit to regain the same hype and appeal the studio had before Endgame. According to Time Magazine, Marvel Studios has a film within the top three grossing films; however, in 2023, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ranked at number 10.
Coming out November 17, 2023, a prequel to the 2012 blockbuster Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This prequel goes deep into the backstory of Coriolanus Snow before he became president. In the movie, he is set to be 18 years old and is much nicer than the ruthless character that is portrayed in the previous films. The early reviews on the prequel have been overall positive, according to Rachel LaBonte, a Screen Rant writer, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a worthy addition to the Hunger Games Series.”
With Christmas this month, holiday movies are coming or have already come. Best. Christmas. Ever! comes out November 16, 2023, starring Heather Graham. The plot concerns Heather Graham’s character, Charlotte, and her old college friend, Jackie. Charlotte takes the opportunity and does a good deed for her friend.
