Several of Chipotle’s competitors have jumped at the chance to promote their food during the restaurant chains’ temporary closure.

More than 200 Freshii’s restaurant will offer certain Mexican food choices at half off on Monday.

Moe’s Southwest Grill, which has about 600 locations, is rolling out an ad campaign branding itself as customers’ “Rebound Burrito,” and will offer buy one get one free burrito coupons.

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is also using Chipotle’s meeting as an opportunity to launch to-go lunch boxes filled with a burrito or burrito bowl at a discount on Monday only. They normally cost about $8.50 to $10.50, while Monday’s deal will offer them for $5-$6.

Despite efforts made by the company, some local residents still aren’t sold. Jevon Floyd, 25, from Miami, FL and recent Florida A&M University graduate explains how this doesn’t changes his mind about the restaurant.

“I’m not a big fan of chipotle, I don’t buy food there.  You had E. coli I don’t want no free burrito,” Floyd said.

Haile Robertson, 19, Pre-Occupational Therapy student from Palm Beach, FL believes this promotion shows great customer appreciation.

“I think it’s their way of trying to gain customers’ trust back,” Robertson said.

Chipotle has put all their resources to resolve this situation we look forward to who these efforts turn the perception around.
