Beauty, Health and More: The 2023 Beauty and Health Expo
By: Ashton Johnson
As FAMU’s 2023 Homecoming continues to unfold, day five of the homecoming events started off with a bang at the Beauty and Health Expo. From health care to in-depth beauty tips, this annual expo brought beauty enthusiasts and health care professionals together to educate, inspire and guide students through various avenues.
Ulta Beauty, The FAMU Health Center, TGIN Hair Products, and The Leon County Emergency Medical Services were just some of the different health services, businesses, and school departments in attendance.
FAMU alumna and Revolt Media TV host Brianna Harmon hosted this educational and sample-giving event. She led multiple panels about health while everyone went from table to table.
Each table had many handouts on how to reduce stress, different city resources, information on breast cancer and how to be a better dad.
Along with this excellent information, most tables had fun giveaways and products that could be sampled. Stress balls, hair samples, and cute pens all found their way into everyone’s hands.
The expo also had an interactive side where makeup artists showed students how to use their products, lash techs filed in lashes, and women taught students how to give themselves breast exams.
One interesting table was FAMU’s Medical Marijuana Education and Research Initiative. At the expo, they explained how the medical marijuana field is growing and how students can benefit from the expanding industry.
The medical marijuana liaison, Michelle Wilson, says, “It’s important for individuals to understand the medical marijuana laws in Florida. The lawful use and the unlawful use.” Through this initiative, many students discovered the different ways medical marijuana is used.
Eager to learn students went home filled with new facts, products and a new outlook on health and self-beauty.
FAMU’s Beauty and Health Expo is growing every year and is only getting better. The continuous expansion of this event offers even more chances for people to celebrate self-care and learn more about their well-being.
