FAMU’s Finest ’25: Cameron White

“Love, so many things I’ve got to tell you.”

Cameron White (Cam) is used to solving puzzles. As a third-year criminal justice student at Florida A&M University, he spends his days studying crime and preparing for his future of getting a master’s and becoming a detective or a CIA agent.

With a passion for solving mysteries, one puzzle he can always put together is the mystery of love, making him one of FAMU’s Finest.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud,” he reflects, quoting 1 Corinthians 13:4.

“Those who have faith in you sometimes go astray.”

Born under a Cancer-Leo cusp, he does not buy into the idea that zodiac signs and horoscopes determine someone’s compatibility with each other. To him, love is not written by the stars but is written by God.

“I’m a man of God, so I believe that God tells you who you should and should not be with.”

He believes a strong relationship foundation is based solely on his and his partner’s relationship with God.

“You can’t love me properly the way I need to if you don’t love God properly,” the lover boy explained.

“Cause there’s a possibility that you’ll look at me differently. Love.”

While repping the 229 of Albany, GA, on campus, Cam currently serves as Mr. Sapphire for the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and is on the marketing team for FAMU Campus Recreation.

“Many days I’ve longed for you, wanting you, hoping for the chance to get to know you.”

Though he attends Florida A&M University, where classic HBCU love stories unfold, while he respects the journey, he is not so sure his story will be written on these rolling hills.

“I believe in a love story. I want to believe that it’s at the school I attend to; currently, I’m looking for it, but I realize that my time is almost up,”

While out on the search, White approaches dating very intentionally, looking for ‘his missing rib.”

“For better or worse, I still will choose you first.”

In terms of looking for a wife and believing in marriage, White says it is someone who is a best friend, a partner, and a confidant all in one.

“She’s the total package. She’s the woman in your life that you realize you can’t live without, that you need,” he shares.

For Cam, Valentine’s Day is just another day. No extravagant plans, no grand gestures, just him, some movies and his favorite love song, “Love” by Musiq Soulchild, playing on repeat.

“I just feel his soul in the song; I believe that love is a powerful thing, and to just be able to hear how he feels about love and I feel it.”

Until his love story unfolds, Cam is content with the music, the journey, and the faith that his story will be written exactly how it is meant to be.
