Redefining Love: Honey, we need to talk

Pinky Promise was founded by Heather Lindsey in 2012. Pinky Promise is an organization that encourages women to honor God with their life and body. Whether single or married, they have women of all ages and ethnicities with one common goal: to live wholeheartedly for Jesus in every single way. “We promote sisterhood, accountability, and community service”, says Lindsey.

“Pinky Promise”, hosted its part 3 discussion of:  Honey, we need to talk in B.L. Perry this past

Tuesday. Brianna Beard, Charter President of Pinky Promise since 2014 said, “The world bombards us with images of unhealthy relationships that don’t align with God’s plan or purpose for our lives. Through the Redefining Love series, Pinky Promise at FAMU has addressed topics in Christian dating, hoping to inform attendees of how the Word of God can help us all have fruitful and fearless relationships.”

Dr. Marcus Gurley Jr, his wife Adrianne Gurley, and Shay Simon moderated a 3 part series of Redefining Love, and discussing how to have fruitful and fearless relationships. Since it is February, why not get into the spirit of love?

What does it mean when bae says, “Honey, we need to talk”? Does this mean something is wrong? Or does this mean the relationship is a wrap? This discussion was an open panel of men, to hear their take on relationships.

In the days leading to the panel discussion, women had the opportunity to submit questions that they have always wanted to ask the opposite sex.

Dr. Marcus Gurley, Pastor Adler Corvil, and Elder Stephen Caldwell, all took the stage to give women a taste of a man’s world when it comes to having healthy, spiritual, and fruitful relationships.

One of the questions a women posed to the men on stage was “What are some DO’s and DON’Ts ladies should be mindful of when approaching a relationship? Dr. Marcus Gurley Jr, answered, “Don’t search for a man, a man should search for you. The Bible says, Once a man finds a women he has found a good thing.”

How did you know your wife was the one? Another female attendee asked. “I did not compromise my integrity to be with someone said, Pastor Adler Corvil. She was fine of course, but she also chased GOD!”

Another question posed was “What did you do to prepare yourself for marriage? “ I trained myself for marriage and not for divorce. I literally put money aside for my wedding and for my future wife and I’s marriage, said Dr. Gurley.

At the beginning and end of each session, the group says a prayer, and each prayer is closed with love, prosperity and new beginning ahead.
