Faith or love? If presented the choice between compromising your religious beliefs for the love of your life, which would you choose?
Religion is such an important part of many people’s lives, but dating often reveals that many of the people you encounter in your dating quest have very different attachments to faith than your own. In fact, that is the beauty of dating, testing your limits to discover the values essential to a lasting partnership. When dating out of your religion you will likely at one point question, “will our family approve of this relationship?,” “If we have kids what religion will we raise them in?” And most importantly, “do we share the same fundamental values?” Interfaith relationships are becoming increasingly common in the United States. According to a 2015 Pew Research Center study 49 percent of couples responded of having a partner with a different religion compared to the 1960s where it was less than 20 percent of couples. Sacrifices will be made in any relationship, and it seems like more people are putting religion on their compromise list.
