Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe Set to Open May 22, 2025

Universal Orlando Resort has officially announced that its long-awaited fourth theme park, Epic Universe, will open to the public on May 22,  just ahead of the busy Memorial Day weekend rush.

“This is such a pivotal moment for our destination, and we’re thrilled to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year,” said Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, in an official statement.

Epic Universe is a $7 billion expansion that will more than double the resort’s footprint in Central Florida, making it the largest of Universal’s three Orlando theme parks. It will transport guests through five immersive worlds, each with its own distinct design and signature attractions.

At the heart of the park is Celestial Park, a lushly landscaped central hub filled with gardens, fountains, dining, and thrill rides. Surrounding it are four fantastical lands that bring beloved franchises to life. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic will take fans deep into the magical government of the wizarding world, blending elements from 1920s Paris and the iconic British Ministry seen in the films.

Super Nintendo World will finally bring guests face-to-face with characters like Mario and Donkey Kong, featuring rides such as “Bowser’s Challenge” and the mine-cart-style “Donkey Kong: Mine-Cart Madness.” In How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, families can soar with dragons, ride a junior coaster, cool off with a splashy water ride, and catch a live stunt show in a Viking-inspired village. And for those looking for something darker, Dark Universe promises a chilling experience with “Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment,” immersing guests in the lore of Universal’s classic monsters.

In conjunction with the park’s launch, Universal will also debut its new on-site hotel, Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a 500-room resort offering guests exclusive access with a private entrance into Epic Universe.

With expectations of drawing more than 6 million visitors in its first year alone, Epic Universe is poised to become a major force in the theme park industry and a must-visit destination in 2025.
