Through her ability to be both relatable and resilient, Akasha Aderonmu, a fourth-year environmental science student, knows she’s FAMU’s Finest.
“I take pride in my dedication and growth- but also in owning who I am unapologetically,” Aderonmu says. “I represent beauty, ambition, and authenticity, and I’m not afraid to take up space.
As an out-of-state first-generation student, she lacked guidance on navigating her community and HBCU culture, which shaped her work ethic, independence, and confidence. As she continues to write the chapters of her life, Aderonmu is a very passionate person about everything. She comes from humble beginnings and has faced many challenges, but she learned to “persevere, adapt, and keep going” without letting hardship define who she is.
“One thing I wish people knew about it is that my confidence comes from a story rooted in resilience,” she added. Continuing to push through life’s trials and tribulations, Aderonmu has never stopped chasing her dreams of moving to a big city and traveling the world.
When it comes to love, she believes that accepting all sides of somebody is when true love shines through.
“Still uplift and support them despite their flaws. To me, it’s a choice that you make every day,” she explained.
She wants a partner who does small things just out of consideration; good manners and chivalry go a long way for her, as she values integrity and someone who doesn’t need an audience to uphold their principles. After school, Akasha plans to move to a big city and travel the world. Despite her desire to journey abroad, she still values her inner circle and making time for her loved ones.
“I’d love to go back to the West Coast and settle down in LA, or maybe even stay on the East and move down to Miami.”
Even as she plans her future, Akasha remains grounded in the lessons of her past. Her story is a testament to embracing life fully, which includes celebrating victories, learning from setbacks, and holding space for both joy and struggle.
Akasha is a woman who is not afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve and chase what she wants with both passion and purpose. She is building a life full of adventure, love, and authenticity, and anyone lucky enough to be a part of it may find the thrill irresistible.
