Ulta is trending among the beauty community, and it’s not because they dropped a new product everyone loves. On Jan. 21, 2026, Ulta Beauty released tickets for its long-awaited Ulta Beauty World event. Fans were told tickets would go on sale at 10 a.m., yet the event sold out almost instantly. About 3 million people waited in the online queue, unaware that only 3,000 tickets were available. Just 1 hour and 11 minutes after tickets were released, the company issued a statement saying they were completely sold out. This quick sell-out enraged many fans who set aside time only to end up empty-handed.

What is Ulta Beauty World?

Ulta Beauty World Expo is a one-day convention offering exclusive experiences, including pop-up stands from 200+ brands, expert panels, and swag bags valued at approximately $2,000.

Last year, the convention was hosted in San Antonio, Texas. This year, Ulta Beauty will host the event on April 16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Ulta Beauty also shared that it will be offering master classes on April 15, the day before. Tickets for the Expo were $160, along with a $5 processing fee. Master class tickets were on sale for $75 with a $5 processing fee. Tickets for both events were $199 plus the $5 processing fee.

Taylor Williams, an employee at Ulta Beauty, stated, “Ulta Beauty World was a convention originally started for employees to come and get first looks at new products and ones already in other stores.” Beginning in 2025, Ulta Beauty opened the event to the public.

Why is there harsh criticism about Ulta Beauty World 2026?

Tickets sold out within minutes. While some celebrated their success, others flooded Ulta Beauty’s pages with disappointment and anger. Many said they had been in line since the start of the release but never made it past the first stage of the process before Ulta Beauty released its statement. Some fans speculated that Ulta Beauty may have set aside tickets for influencers or provided early access to purchase. Some even started a petition asking Ulta Beauty to host a convention solely for loyal customers, excluding influencers. One fan even joked on TikTok that in retaliation they will just steal $160 worth of product from Ulta Beauty stores.

Taylor Williams also shared her thoughts on this:

“I think that a good percentage of the tickets went to influencers. I work at the Tallahassee store, and it is the only physical store ranging from Pensacola to Jacksonville. Nobody in the store, not even the general manager, got a ticket, and I think that’s insane.”

According to The Street, an Ulta representative shared that the tickets “were allocated separately and did not reduce inventory available to the general public.” Yet fans beg to differ, especially Alissa Butcher, a cybersecurity specialist. In her trending TikTok, Butcher alleges that Ulta Beauty had invite codes that were “pre-generated” prior to the release of tickets. Therefore, this adds to the speculation that some people had early access to tickets.

What is in store for Ulta Beauty World?

If you did not get a ticket this time, Ulta Beauty is hoping to see you next year. As of now, there is no information on the 2027 convention. The company has not announced whether ticket availability or the purchasing system will change. Stay tuned to see what Ulta Beauty has in store.
