By: Grace Daniels | Staff Writer
Spring Break is just around the corner, and for students, it’s the perfect time to unwind, relax and create lasting memories with their friends.
Whether you’re planning to bask in the sun on the beach or explore new destinations, this ultimate guide covers everything you need to know about hotels, safety, and more to make your Spring Break an unforgettable experience.
Patrice Joseph, a graduating senior, already has her plans for Spring Break this year. Despite a minor setback, Joseph will be making the most out of her vacation.
“I originally wanted to see Nicki Minaj out of state, but those dates are sold out,” Joseph said. “So, most likely, I’ll be going to Panama City Beach with my friends that weekend.”
Safety First
While Spring Break is a time for fun and relaxation, it’s crucial to prioritize safety.
Always be aware of your surroundings, travel in groups, and avoid risky situations. Keep important documents secure, and be cautious with personal belongings. If you’re traveling to a new city, familiarize yourself with local emergency numbers and healthcare facilities.
Kaylin Jean-Louis, a third-year broadcast journalism student, has made some changes in her traveling plans so that she can have a better and safer trip.
“Now, I always try to stay in a group no matter where I go,” Jean-Louis said. “And I also share my location with my close circle of people so that they know where I am at all times.”
Before traveling anywhere, it is imperative to understand safety levels because it is crucial for maintaining a secure and safe environment. Googling the safety levels is necessary.
On January 23rd, Jamaica was listed as a Level 4 by the U.S. Travel Advisory due to factors such as high crime rates, including violent crimes such as shootings and armed robberies, especially in certain areas. Additionally, the advisory also cited the risk of natural disasters like hurricanes and the potential for civil unrest.
Hotels are fundamental when trying to create a safe spring break moment. It is crucial to reserve a hotel that is close to whatever attractions you would like to visit.
Choosing the Perfect Hotel
When it comes to accommodations, the options are endless. From beachfront resorts to hotels, there are a plethora of choices.
Consider factors such as location, amenities and budget to find the perfect fit for your Spring Break vacation. Florida is mainly known for offering a diverse range of accommodations to suit every vacation/event.
Here are a few options of hotels that are great for college students in Florida:
1. Hilton West Palm Beach – Palm Beach, Florida
2. The Fontainebleau Miami Beach – Miami Beach, Florida
3. Wyndham Orlando Resort & Conference Center Celebration Area – Orlando, Florida
Budget-Friendly Tips
Spring Break doesn’t have to break your pockets. Look for student discount package deals, and consider group rates for accommodations and activities.
Plan your budget in advance to avoid overspending and ensure you have enough funds for the entire trip. Cooking simple meals in your accommodation or choosing affordable local eateries can also help save money.
Kesean Brown, a second-year Social Work student, plans to create a budget before traveling anywhere.
“It is important to set up a financial plan before traveling anywhere because if you don’t, you will hurt your pockets,” Brown said. “Have an idea of where you want to go to restaurants you want to visit, but always be mindful of what you are spending.”
