FAMU’s Finest: Keyanna Jones

Atiyah Bunton

From Buffalo, New York, Keyanna Jones has always been driven. “I grew up very athletic doing every sport from cross country, to basketball, cheer, and martial arts,” she says. That discipline followed her beyond the field. Now a student hair stylist and entrepreneur, Keyanna channels that same ambition into her craft. Through her beauty brand @keytobeauty and her personal page @pradayu__, she blends creativity with confidence, building not just hairstyles, but a growing platform rooted in passion and precision.

A proud daddy’s girl, she credits her father, along with her mother and grandmother, as foundational to the woman she is today.

“My father was very integral in my becoming,” she explains. He pushed her academically, nurtured her confidence, and encouraged her to step beyond her comfort zone at a young age. As a political advocate and youth mentor in Buffalo, he modeled determination and leadership. Those lessons; ambition, advocacy, and self-belief; still guide her. She channels that same energy into entrepreneurship and personal growth.

When it comes to love, Keyanna is clear about what healthy feels like. “When love is healthy and balanced, it feels easy and free,” she says. “Almost like two best friends… two people growing endlessly but pushing themselves and each other to be great and live healthy and in harmony together.” For her, love isn’t restrictive or dramatic, it’s aligned.

As for what makes someone stand out? It starts with individuality. “Someone having their own swag, their own sense of self,” she says. She’s drawn to a partner with hobbies, passions, and real interests, someone whose world she can step into while they learn hers too. Organization matters. “Having things together to the tee and handling business and not playing about it.” Consideration is non-negotiable. “Being very considerate, not only to me but to others. Just being a sweet soul overall.” Add determination, ambition, being active, and “getting to the money,” and you’ve caught her attention.

Valentine’s Day? Keep it thoughtful, and far from boring.

“It would have to be super cute and detailed,” she says, almost like a proposal-level surprise. Think her favorite things, something she’s been eyeing, flowers included. Dinner can be part of it, but “I hate a boring plan.” It should be adventurous, tactical, and clearly planned with intention. “If you’ve been listening and paying attention… you can’t go wrong.”

If someone truly wanted to impress her, it would require details, the kind that prove you’ve been listening. Think thoughtful, adventurous, maybe even a little proposal energy. Her favorite things. Something she’s mentioned in passing. Flowers, of course. But most importantly, intention.

For Keyanna Jones, love is simple: be intentional, be aligned, and above all ; pay attention.
